A special proxy will be included with the Annual Member Meeting Proxy and the Board of Directors ballot. The Pelican Bay Foundation Board of Directors is initiating this necessary, and prudent step, to further define Leasing in Section 3.26 of The Second Amended and Restated Declaration and General Protective Covenants for Pelican Bay(Declaration) to prohibit a “new” type of leasing activity facilitated by Airbnb, FlipKey, VRBO, Tripping.com, House Trip, Luxury Retreats, HomeAway, or similar sites.

This amendment to the Declaration is consistent with existing leasing restrictions, and is aimed at protecting our community from this new type of leasing.  The best way to monitor and regulate this type of leasing activity is to prohibit advertising on those websites that have made these types of leases so prevalent.

An amendment to the Declaration requires an approval by at least two-thirds (2/3) of the voting interests of the Foundation, providing that at least 50 percent of the voting interests of the Foundation vote on the matter. So, it will be exceptionally important that not only do you vote FOR this amendment, but that you also encourage your friends and neighbors to vote FOR this amendment.
