With the current projection of Hurricane Dorian, the Foundation is currently monitoring its path and is aware of implementing all protocols concerning inclement weather to safeguard equipment, etc. when necessary.
The National Weather Service 5:00AM advisory states that the risk of dangerous storm surge and hurricane-force winds is increasing later this week and this weekend continues to increase in the central and northwestern Bahamas and along the Florida east coast, although it is too soon to determine where these hazards will occur. Residents in these areas should ensure that they have their hurricane plan in place and not focus on the exact forecast track of Dorian’s Center. Heavy rains are expected to occur over portions of the Bahamas, Florida and elsewhere in the southeastern United States later this week and and into early next week.
The Foundation will communicate any further operational changes. You can follow the Pelican Bay Foundation Facebook page here, for additional updates on Dorian and Hurricane preparedness tips. In the meantime, Collier residents are encouraged to use the resources on the Collier County website at colliercountyfl.gov such as Alert Collier and floridadisaster.org to prepare for the hurricane season and to stay on top of county notifications and alerts.
