As some beachgoers have already witnessed, there been increased levels of beach erosion with the most recent storm fronts.
The effect of this erosion has created a tall escarpment close to the beach store. This area is considered quite dangerous with a steep drop in the escarpment and evidence of exposed mangrove stumps. Therefore, it is important to be careful in this area. Jumping or diving off the escarpment is extremely hazardous.
The Foundation and Pelican Bay Services Division is currently monitoring Clam Pass. In conjunction with the PBSD’s coastal engineer, they are considering viable options for erosion counter-measures which could be executed while turtle season is currently in effect.
