Tropical Storm Gordon: National Weather Service issues a Tropical Storm Warning for Collier area. Foundation operations closed today
The National Weather Service issued a Tropical Storm warning for Coastal Collier County with tropical storm-force winds and is expected to bring heavy rain to the area this afternoon. A Flood Watch is also issued for Collier County through the evening with the potential to bring widespread rainfall of 2 to 4 inches.
For the safety of members and staff, the Foundation will be closing all beach and tram operations today, including Marker 36. The Foundation is currently securing equipment and implementing protocols in anticipation for severe weather conditions.
The Foundation will continue to monitor weather conditions and will keep the community apprised of any changes or new developments.
It is also essential for all residents and visitors to be ready before a storm approaches. Collier County Emergency Management has provided an emergency preparedness website: www.Collier72.org. This site enables residents to plan for emergencies and get up-to-date information.
